“A gentlemen’s farm suited for a visiting governor”

is what we envision for this farm nestled in the rolling foothills of Bedford County. Why redevelopment? Because we are simply expanding on the initial lay out and purpose of this farmstead by Mr. Bill Adams in the 1950’s. The lake was started in 1953 and the first half of the lodge was built at that time. The second half of the lodge was finished in 1955 as the lake was filled and stocked with several species of game fish. Fishing, hunting, and small gatherings have always been a focus of this retreat and evidently Mr. Adams also liked an occasional fireworks display. Why suited for a governor? Mr. Adams had J. Lindsey Arnold as a visitor, and he apparently stayed in the “corner bedroom”.

Spring Lake Farm (SLF) is owned and operated by Lee Merritt and his son David and his wife Izzy Merritt as an event venue and farm style retreat, carrying on Mr. Adams’ intended legacy of sharing a beautiful place with friends and family.
